We want to increase our ‘reach’ and move from providing in-person programs to offering online programs so we will appeal to remote engineers in Canada.
Business Need
This Employment Agency had funding to create a bridging program to support internationally-trained engineering professionals transitioning into the Canadian workplace. They partnered with an Ontario college to design and implement the course. This partnership had worked well for many years; however, they had provided in-person courses. Now the agency wanted to provide an online program to increase their reach and appeal to new Canadians outside of the Greater Toronto Area.
Curriculum Design
The college invited Performance Matters to partner and help them rethink the design for exclusively online delivery. Hannah created a visual road map or curriculum, which identified:
-
- The program outcomes.
- The design principles.
- The sequence of learning.
- Where and how to leverage different technology.
- Integration of badges and integrative assignments.
Training Solution
Hannah worked with the Subject Matter Expert/Instructor to design the program content. The program included five modules that included: virtual classroom, elearning, video lectures, curated content from external sources, and assessments.
Integration with the Learning Management System (LMS)
The college used Blackboard as its Learning Management System. Hannah worked with the administrator and designed the program components to integrate with the LMS structure.
