We want to enhance our online course for creating a harassment-free workplace so it will appeal to our union and non-union employees.
This public utility wanted to create an engaging elearning course to replace their existing classroom-based course. The classroom course was too long, the content was ‘tired’ and it was too costly to the organization because of the extended time participants were away from their work.
I worked with this public utility to create an interactive elearning course on workplace harassment and violence for managers and employees. After reviewing their existing course materials, policy and procedures documents we decided to use a combination of approaches, including vignettes and a first-person scenario in addition to onscreen interactions. The design supported adult learning principles by allowing learners to drive their learning and explore the topic as opposed to prescribing a linear approach to learning.
